4 Ways for a Mindful Vacation

4 Ways for a Mindful Vacation

Vacationing is supposed to be a relaxing and restorative time, but it’s easy to get wrapped up in schedules and little snafus that we forget to kick back and take it all in. I’ve listed a few ways to take your vacation to the next level by being a mindful vacationer.

Set an intention. Before you embark on your trip, take a few moments to reflect on what you would like to get out of your vacation. Whether it’s to spend more time with family or less time with your phone, having an intention will help guide you to activities that will bring you the most joy.

Meditate. You’ve started off your vacation prepared with an intention and open mind, but the rainy weather or delayed flight have taken you off balance. That’s okay! Take a few minutes to focus on your breath and restore your vacation state-of-mind.

Treat Yourself. Vacations are self-care turned all the way up. This time away is solely dedicated to making your life richer and more enjoyable. Indulge in activities that you wouldn’t normally do at home. Splurge on that local artist’s piece. Book that extra long massage. Always, always order dessert.

Build in Leisure Time. As a travel concierge, it’s my job to sprinkle your itinerary with awesome tours and experiences. But I always encourage my clients to work in some breathing room into their schedule. Take some leisure time to take in your surroundings and all the unique, foreign details.
