16 Oct DESTINATION SPOTLIGHT: Zadar, Croatia
Mark my words: Croatia is about to become the next trending destination. With its Mediterranean landscape and wallet-friendly prices, you will be able to escape to a unique paradise without breaking the bank. But while everyone will be flocking to the country’s capital, Zagreb, I suggest you explore the seaside city of Zadar.
Inside the walled city of Zadar, you will be surrounded by the whites and yellows of marble streets with flecks of red from the terracotta rooftops. This color palette contrasts nicely with the bright blue of the sea lining the city.
Zadar has several fascinating landmarks that are free and family friendly. Lounge on the Sea Organ and enjoy the soothing tones as the tide plays the Organ. Walk and play through the beautiful parks that sprout across the city. Celebrate a day well spent at the Sun Salutation, a solar paneled floor that creates an exciting light show from the day’s solar energy.
You can also take a day trip to the stunning Plitvice Lakes to see some of the bluest water on the planet. Trek along a wood-paneled path through the lush forest to marvel the gorgeous waterfalls.
Croatia usually gets a majority of its visitors during the summer months. I suggest you plan your visit during the “shoulder-season,” meaning May/June or September/October right before or after their summer high-season.
