04 Oct REDISCOVER AMERICA: Staycation at Glen Gordon Manor
What do you do with two full days with no plans? You go on vacation, of course! A mini-vacation. A staycation, if you will. Last month, I booked a stay at The Glen Gordon Manor, about an hour outside of Vienna, for my husband and me at 4:50pm and we were checking in by 7:15pm. Our staycation began with being greeted with sparkling wine by owners Dayn and Nancy, who showed us around the beautiful yards, pool, and all-access wine fridge. I’ll say that again: All. Access. Wine. Fridge.
Did I mention the owner, Dayn, is a world-renowned chef? I could write a book on the meals I had during my stay. Parmesan soup. Fresh carrot bread. Onion tarts. I even treated myself to a cooking class with Chef Dayn, where we made the most impressive chocolate soufflé!
When we weren’t sipping wine and indulging in some of the greatest meals of our lives, we went exploring around the Manor. We hiked the waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park and came third in Trivia Night at the local pub. We heard another couple went touring around the Skyline Highway, and the Manor owners prepared them a generous, gourmet picnic!
We could have easily spent another week at Glen Gordon Manor. It’s almost magical knowing there’s an oasis just a few miles from home. If you are looking for a Glen Gordon staycation of your own, ask me about the EJ special and I’ll take good care of you!
